EMV Migration Forum Continues Chip Education for ATM Industry Stakeholders with Implementation Webinar
Princeton Junction, N.J., June 9, 2015 – Just as the rest of the payments industry, the ATM community is migrating to EMV chip technology to secure transactions in the U.S. and to protect themselves from potential fraud losses. The EMV Migration Forum will host a webinar next month to provide a non-technical review of the critical components of the implementation process based on the white paper, “Implementing EMV at the ATM: Requirements and Recommendations for the U.S. ATM Community.”
The one-hour webinar, “Implementing EMV at the ATM,” was developed by the Forum’s ATM Working Committee and will be held on July 14, 2015 at 1:00 pm ET (10:00 am PT). ATM owners, providers, acquirers, processors and vendors preparing to implement EMV chip at the ATM in the U.S., and media interested in high-level education and guidance on how to write about the technology and/or migration are encouraged to register at https://attendee.gotowebinar.com/register/6526967471229911042.
“There are a lot of considerations that ATM industry stakeholders need to be aware of as they migrate to chip technology, and many have questions about how to become chip-compliant,” said Randy Vanderhoof, director of the EMV Migration Forum. “This webinar covers the essential requirements and recommendations from the white paper to help the ATM industry effectively and efficiently implement chip technology.”
The webinar will cover these topics in detail to assist the ATM community as they make the transition to chip:
- Why Migrate to Chip?
- Fundamental Chip Concepts
- Basic Chip Requirements for ATMs
- Migration Planning
- Special Considerations
- Suggested Best Practices
“Implementing EMV at the ATM” was created as a general overview and guide. Each ATM owner/operator will undoubtedly have unique needs. The EMV Migration Forum therefore encourages each ATM owner/operator to work closely with their vendors, processors and payment network representatives to ensure a smooth transition to EMV.
Speakers include Marc Cleven, Visa and Deborah Spidle, Paragon Application Systems.
This webinar is part of the EMV Migration Forum’s ongoing efforts to provide the education necessary for the U.S. to successfully move to chip cards. For more information on the Forum and additional resources, visit www.gochipcard.com, http://www.emv-connection.com and follow @EMVForum on Twitter.
About U.S. EMV Chip Migration
Commonly used globally in place of magnetic stripe, EMV chip technology helps to reduce card fraud in a face-to-face card-present environment; provides global interoperability; and enables safer transactions across contact and contactless channels. Chip implementation was initiated in the U.S. market in 2011 and 2012 when American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa announced their roadmaps for supporting a chip-based payments infrastructure. Acquirer processor readiness mandates to support EMV were established for 2013, with liability shifts for managing fraud risk in a face-to-face environment set for 2015.
About the EMV Migration Forum
The EMV Migration Forum is a cross-industry body focused on supporting the EMV chip implementation steps required for payment networks, issuers, processors, merchants, and consumers to help ensure a successful introduction of more secure chip technology in the United States. The focus of the Forum is to address topics that require some level of industry cooperation and/or coordination to migrate successfully to chip technology in the United States.
